Based in Indonesia, PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri (TransNusa) is the country’s fastest-growing airline carrier operating internationally.

Expanding airline payment processing and acceptance capabilities for Indonesia and Malaysia

Founded in 2005 as a budget carrier, TransNusa rebranded into a premium service carrier after COVID-19 in 2020.

TransNusa currently serves several international routes, including Jakarta-Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta-Johor, Jakarta-Singapore, and Jakarta-Guangzhou. In July 2024, TransNusa expanded its reach within Kuala Lumpur by becoming one of the first carriers to receive approval from the Malaysian Aviation Commission to operate international flights out of Subang Airport.

The challenge

Beyond Indonesia, TransNusa also provides international flights to and from destinations in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific. This meant it needed to cater to a diverse customer base and ensure that customers are able to pay for their flight bookings in their respective currencies.

However, this led to one of TransNusa’s core challenges: supporting payments in multiple currencies for its customers entailed additional costs that TransNusa had to absorb.

TransNusa needed the following:

  • An expanded range of local and global payment methods with multi-currency support.
  • A payment orchestrator who can seamlessly integrate with existing payment systems with little to no friction.
  • A way to ensure that the airline’s payment acceptance capabilities meet the highest and latest security standards.
How we helped

Since July 2023, TransNusa has powered its payment processing and acceptance with 2C2P’s payment gateway. This enabled TransNusa to expand its range of payment options and accept payments made by customers in their local currencies and preferred payment methods.

In Indonesia, this means TransNusa can accept payments made with local and international credit cards, as well as popular local payment methods like digital wallets and bank transfers made via the national Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS) system.

The airline has also harnessed 2C2P’s extensive alternative payments acceptance network to enable customers to pay through channels such as direct debit, along with offline means like over-the-counter and kiosk payments.

As for Malaysia, TransNusa is now able to accept payments made with local and international credit cards, local digital wallets, and bank transfers via Malaysian banks.

2C2P also adheres to the latest payment security standards, ensuring that TransNusa’s customers can pay for their airline bookings with peace of mind.

Dato Bernard Francis, Aviation Group CEO, TransNusa

"2C2P has significantly enhanced TransNusa’s airline payment systems. Apart from offering competitive pricing in the Southeast Asian region, 2C2P has also been prompt in providing support and escalation, and on top of this, they abide by the most current security standards. We also had the pleasure of a seamless onboarding process with them! "
