Powering seamless payments when ticket demand surges

Today, Ticketmelon connects more than 3.2 million members across over nine markets. The company has supported more than 7,000 event organizers, facilitated over 5 million ticket sales, and currently powers more than 3,000 events each year.

Its platform supports a wide variety of experiences, from music festivals and concerts to sporting events and esports tournaments.

The challenge

As Ticketmelon expanded across Southeast Asia, its existing payment channels could no longer fully meet the diverse preferences of customers in each market. A familiar way to pay in one country might not be the preferred option in another.

Another critical challenge emerged during ticket launches for highly anticipated events. With thousands of fans reaching the checkout page at the same time, Ticketmelon needed a reliable online payment system capable of handling high transaction volumes without disrupting the customer experience.

For higher-value purchases such as VIP tables, festival passes, and premium packages, Ticketmelon also wanted to provide more flexible payment options that would make it easier for customers to complete their purchases.

Ticketmelon was looking for:

  • Local payment methods that matched customer preferences in each market

  • A reliable online payment system that could handle high transaction volumes

  • Instalment payment plans (IPP) for higher-value tickets and packages

  • A responsive support team available during critical, high-demand periods

How we helped

Ticketmelon adopted 2C2P’s Payment Gateway solution to offer a broader range of payment methods across multiple markets, including credit and debit cards, local e-wallets, QR payments, and IPP.

Giving customers access to familiar payment methods has made the checkout journey faster and more convenient, while increasing the likelihood of a successful purchase. IPPs have also made VIP tickets and premium packages more accessible by allowing customers to spread out costs over time.

During high-demand ticket launches, 2C2P’s reliable payment infrastructure helps Ticketmelon manage high transaction volumes and deliver a smooth checkout experience, even when thousands of fans attempt to purchase tickets simultaneously.

2C2P also provides proactive standby support during peak on-sale periods, allowing technical issues to be addressed in real time and giving Ticketmelon greater confidence when managing its most critical launches.

Looking ahead, Ticketmelon and 2C2P are preparing to introduce Multi-Currency Pricing, which will allow international customers to view prices and pay for tickets in their own currencies with greater clarity, transparency, and confidence.
