Founded in Singapore in 2014, Singlife is Singapore’s fifth-largest insurer, providing Singaporeans with a range of financial products, including digital insurance, savings, investment, and wealth management. It also stands as the exclusive group insurance provider for the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Public Officers Group Insurance Scheme (POGIS).

The Challenge

Singlife’s challenges were threefold.

One, Singlife previously did not cater to all its customers’ preferred payment methods. American Express (AMEX) was highlighted as a key missed credit card opportunity, as its cashback structure rewards customers for Singlife insurance payments. The cashback is particularly significant for higher-premium policies like motor insurance.

Two, Singlife faced technical integration difficulties, and without a dedicated payment gateway provider on board, Singlife’s tech team experienced a knowledge gap that slowed their speed to market.

Three, although Singlife had made provisions for Instalment Payment Plans (IPP) since 2016, they required Singlife to maintain separate negotiations with individual banks such as DBS and UOB.

To resolve its multipronged challenge, Singlife was looking for:

  • A solution to increase its range of payment methods
  • A means to reduce the knowledge friction to go to market faster
  • A way to implement IPPs with all major banks
How we helped

Singlife integrated 2C2P’s Payment Gateway (PGW) solution, enabling it to offer a wider range of payment methods, starting with AMEX. With 2C2P’s PGW infrastructure in place, Singlife has expressed interest in further expanding its payment methods to include Google Pay, Apple Wallet, and digital wallets.

Notably, Singlife recognises the value of digital wallet payment integration as a viable alternative for customers who either do not know or cannot use PayNow to foot their insurance bills.

Furthermore, to resolve Singlife’s tech team’s payment knowledge gap, 2C2P has also set up periodic meetings to clarify their doubts and educate them on the fundamentals of payments.

To this end, Singlife appreciates 2C2P’s proactive and persistent approach to their partnership, citing our “DNA to never say no” and introducing new ideas and solutions.

Looking ahead, Singlife is interested in working with 2C2P to explore new payment technologies like network tokenisation, where network tokens are deployed to automatically update card information to ensure uninterrupted recurring billing. This would reduce the risk of transaction failures and streamline the overall payment flow between customer and insurer.

Another payment infrastructure innovation that could be explored is agentic AI in payments, which would further reduce friction by automating recurring payments without requiring input from both customer and insurer.

Alvino Kor, Executive Director

"2C2P has been a valued partner in enhancing our premium payment process. Their ability to support multiple local payment methods through a single integration has made the payment experience more seamless for both our policyholders and internal teams.

The 2C2P team's proactive approach to partnership and their commitment to delivering quality customer service genuinely set them apart.
